About Us

Leaving It Behind (LIB) is a not-for-profit, volunteer driven organization committed to planting the seed of possibility in the minds of AT Risk Youth. Since 2005, Leaving It Behind (LIB) has committed to creating the experience to start the thought process for AT RISK Youth that they can leave the down falls of their past behind as they prepare to embrace the potential of their future. Leaving It Behind (LIB) created the environment where we to help harvest the seed of disadvantaged youth who exhibit maladaptive behaviors such as truancy, violence, gang membership, physical and verbal violence, and at-risk sexual activity and provide a positive experience that helps them began the process of reshaping their thought process. We partner with other non-profit organizations that have the mission to help cultivate and harvest the potential of what these youth will become.

Our mission is to decrease the behavior of At-Risk youth and to enhance the effectiveness of the people who live and work with them. Leaving It Behind (LIB) provides the means to attract these youth and identify the outlets to feed them into other non-profit organizations that can help them grow.

Our methods support the development of creative experience that aids in the outcome of:

Development of goal-directed behavior.

Decreased involvement in gangs, violence, and teen sexual activity.

Increased GPA and school attendance.

Increased self worth and self-esteem.

Increased sense of family, peer and community support.

A shift in attitude and behavior from being a victim to taking responsible actions.
